Coaching Seminar in Holland – Analyzing a Soccer Match

A major element in the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Union) coaching courses is analyzing the game of soccer. So important is match analysis to the Dutch that it is one of their conditions for passing their coaching licenses. In order to properly train teams, coaches must first be able to clearly understand what happens in a game and why. By developing good match analysis abilities coaches are then are able to maximize their impact on teams via proper training sessions. Better training in regards to focusing on players strengths and weaknesses, more productive work on team attacking, defending and transitional play all stem from being able to properly analyze the game. In association with Winning Mood, which has been a driving force in American soccer development for the past 15 years, join IYST and Ton de Hoop, founder of Winning Mood, professor at the CIOS (one of the only five post-secondary sports colleges in the Netherlands) and instructor for the KNVB for License I (A level) for an incredible coaching seminar focusing on match analysis.

In 6 days, coaches will analyze four matches including several Dutch top division matches and a top youth match. Prior to each match, a preparatory theory lecture is provided including guidelines on how to and what to look for in a match. After the match, coaches get the chance to contrast games, and improve their "eye" for the game. This will truly be a valuable experience for all coaches.

In addition to viewing and analyzing matches, coaches will have the opportunity, at least once, to watch a professional team in their last training session prior to a game. Coaches will be able to have a post game conference with the head coach and/or some players who will give their opinions of the game played. This has always been a favorite part for participants. Imagine talking directly with a top professional coach or player about the game you just saw!

This program is available during the Dutch professional league play in the months of September, October, November as well as February March and April.
